Elaine Le, B.A.
Elaine Le graduated from Florida Gulf Coast University with a Bachelor of Arts in Environmental Studies, with minors in Geology and Climate Science. Elaine upholds a strong moral and personal commitment to the environment and desire to foster an sustainable society, which she uses to guide her professional path in GIS.
During her undergraduate studies, Elaine conducted field research at the Audubon Society's Corkscrew Swamp Sanctuary in Naples, FL, focusing on monitoring wetlands to safeguard native bird species and collecting crucial ecosystem health data. Elaine has additionally served as a program coordinator with local environmental non-profits in Florida. In this role, she oversaw urban forestry operations, volunteer initiatives, youth programs, and tree-inventory systems across Palm Beach County.
Currently, Elaine works under Dr. Lilah Besser at the University of Miami’s Comprehensive Center for Brain Health, where she applies her technical expertise and passion for conservation to produce maps visualizing the impact of greenspaces and built environments on brain health – specifically neurodegenerative disease including Alzheimer’s disease among diverse older adults.
She now attends Florida Atlantic University (graduating Spring 2026), with the aim of receiving a second degree in Computer Science and applying her newfound programing skills to perform data analysis for future conservation-related research.
